Industry Partnerships
We love our industry partners!
Why Be an Industry Partner?
You need engineers that add immense value and contribute to your companies goals, and Iron Range Engineering (IRE) needs partnerships with industry that help us to continue to deliver what you need. Delivering an education that aligns with what our students will do in the "real world" requires constant ideas for improvement that come from all of our wonderful partners.
Source for High Quality Co-ops
IRE students are able to work full-time in engineering positions for four semesters without having to rotate back to university- they take classes while working. IRE graduates have a choice of unlimited engineering focus areas such as aerospace, chemical, civil, electrical, industrial, mechanical, software, biomedical, and more.
Expanded Capabilities
IRE students arrive with a solid baseline of business and project design skills gained through the IRE program's balance of professional, design and technical training. They bring a strong support team with them; weekly interactions with their engineer facilitator and ongoing access to experienced faculty.
Curriculum Flexibility
The project design focus of IRE allows students flexibility to focus in on a variety of engineering fields. For companies that have hard-to-fill engineering roles like welds, corrosion, or controls, there is an opportunity to partner with IRE to build a focused curriculum template.
If your company would like to connect with us to learn more about possible partnership opportunities, please contact us at [email protected].
What Does Being an Industry Partner Mean?
Advise Education
We strive to create a learning environment that best resembles industry to prepare our students for their positions. We ask industry partners to provide advice and guidance. We enjoy input and feedback from industry to prepare our students for day one of their engineering positions.
Industry Engineering Projects
In their first junior semester with us, our student engineers work on a 4 month long project for industry on teams of up to 5 students. These projects provide the student engineers with experience while contributing for no charge to your companies needs. Projects happen in both the Fall and Spring semesters. If you would like to propose a project from your company, please contact [email protected].
Attend our career fairs
Every semester IRE hosts a virtual and an in-person career fair.
Virtual Career Fair:
There is no charge to participate, but all donations go towards student scholarships. Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, and Entry-level engineers from all over the country attend these events. If you are interested in attending one of our career fairs, please email [email protected]. Or, apply to participate in a Virtual Career Fair-Flex Model.
Hire our students
Our students are looking for 2 years of engineering internship and co-op experiences. Employers aren't required to provide any additional efforts to meet educational requirements. Usually, one of our staff will reach out to the student's supervisor for feedback on the students. Our students are still in school full-time in the evenings during their experiences, so we recommend that they aren't working more than 40-45 hours/week to be able to work on their courses.
Additionally, students are required to attend our EngFest! week at the end of the semester. This week is for students to take exams, attend engineering workshops, celebrate the graduating group of students, and more. Students will need to take one week off of work for this event.
Iron Range Engineering is aspiring to be something extraordinary. The program's invested value in its students rings through during interactions with them. At IRE they are not only creating value for their students, but they are also getting it right for industry. These are the types of initiatives that help shape our future by creating an invested and balanced world. - Jason, Nol-Tec Systems, Inc

I've said it before, and I will say it again- this is by far the best virtual career fair I have attended. The transitions from the main group to break outs is flawless and the students are able to flow smoothly between companies. I truly enjoy this virtual event and look forward to continuing recruitment through this method as it has proven to be very successful. - Lacy, Terex Corporation
