Student Life

Work hard. Play hard. Whether it’s snowshoeing, kayaking, or ice cream social, there’s always great student life activities to take part in at Iron Range Engineering. Getting to know the people you work with helps foster better teamwork, as well as relieve stress.  Each semester, a wide variety events and activities are available to students.

The Great North Woods

Iron Range Engineering is located in the heart of the great Minnesota north woods, and we like to get out and enjoy it!

On Campus Activities

Campus life includes a variety opportunities to get to know your fellow students, as well as learn more about engineering. Guest speakers, student club events, holiday parties, and local tournaments are just a few of the activities each semester.

Industry Tours

Throughout the year, several industry and scientific tours are available. These tours give students a chance to see engineering in practice, and help to better define context of engineering principles.

Student Trips

Whether it’s attending a national conference, a science tour of Chicago, or rock climbing, students enjoy traveling with each other and broadening their experiences together.  ​​

International Opportunities

Broadening your perspective through international experiences is the best way to gain a global mindset, and become a better engineer.  At IRE, students can choose to participate in our international Denmark program, while continuing their studies.
