Iron Range Engineering (IRE) is a full Bachelor's Degree program located in Virginia, MN focused on developing you into the engineer you wish to be. IRE is split into a lower division (Freshman and Sophomore years) and upper division (Junior and Senior years). Our program is made possible through a variety of partnerships. The lower division program is ran through Minnesota North-Mesabi and the upper division program is ran through Minnesota State University, Mankato. IRE supports transfer from most community colleges that offer pre-engineering coursework. Meet with a pathways specialist to learn more about transferring from another institution.

Step 1: IRE Application Form

Please fill out the information form using the link above to start the process of applying. This form is the same for anyone applying to Iron Range Engineering.

Step 2: Apply MN North

STEP 2 Years 1-2: Apply at Minnesota North College – Mesabi online. 
Because our program is Located in Virginia Minnesota, you will need to choose the correct program major during the application process.
A. Step through the application questions.
B.  Once you get to the section labeled "Major" be sure to choose "Mesabi Range-Virginia" and "On Campus" for the Delivery Method, "Engineering" for the Desired Major.  
C. Continue through the rest of the application process.  Be sure to hit submit at the end.

Step 3: Apply for Financial Aid

For year 1 and 2 students, be sure to choose Minnesota North College – Mesabi as your institution. ​
